Farrells proudly announced that its proposed scheme has been selected as one of the final two winners in the International Competition for the Implementation-Oriented Urban Design of the Core Area of Hangzhou Sci-Tech Innovation CBD. Farrells is thrilled to see that our plan, which draws upon Farrells’ extensive experience in urban design and TOD, was widely recognised by the jury panel.  For the next, the Farrells team will further develop our scheme by utilising our collective expertise. Farrells looks forward to presenting a highly optimised scheme in the final judging stage.

The Hangzhou Sci-Tech Innovation CBD is located in the Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Center, which is a vital part of the Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor.  It is an essential component of Hangzhou’s plan to optimise its mega-city spatial pattern in the post-Asian Games era. The CBD is focused on developing industrial, urban, and innovation landmarks. The conceptual design covers an area of about 10 sq. km, with an implementation-oriented urban design of approximately 3.7 sq. km and a key area design of around 1.2 sq. km.

Farrells Director Cedric Tang delivered the presentation in the review meeting

Earlier this year, the competition committee put out a call for urban designs with international perspectives, forward-looking positioning, and viable layout arrangements from around the globe. Farrells was shortlisted as the only independent design firm, along with four other competitive design consortiums, to develop an implementation-oriented blueprint for this strategically significant plot for the future Hangzhou.

Farrells is honoured to be part of the creation of this international and futuristic innovation centre and to contribute to the development of the Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor into a high-level modernisation demonstration area.
